Editor Selection Policy*

Outline criteria and process for appointing editors, ensuring expertise and independence.

 

The Journal’s Governing Board will review and recommend the most suitable candidates for editorial positions based on academic achievements, editorial expertise, and leadership potential. Final approval will be granted based on these recommendations.

 

Interested candidates must submit a Comprehensive Curriculum Vitae (CV) highlighting their academic and editorial experience, a Statement of Interest detailing their editorial vision for GJMHS, and a Strategic Plan outlining how they aim to enhance the journal’s impact and reach.

 

  • Peer Review Policy and Process*

 

 

Initial Screening: Upon submission, the manuscript undergoes an initial editorial check for relevance to the journal, adherence to formatting guidelines, and overall quality.

 

  1. Editorial Review

 

  • Assignment of Editor: Once the initial screening is complete, the Managing Editor (ME) assigns the manuscript to an Editor (E), based on the subject area and expertise. The E ensures the manuscript fits within the scope of GJMHS.
  • Pre-Review Checks: The Ethics Editor (EE) checks for ethical compliance (e.g., informed consent, plagiarism) and whether the manuscript aligns with the journal’s objectives. Any immediate concerns are communicated to the author for clarification or
  1. Double-Blind Peer Review

 

  • Selection of Reviewers: The Publishing Editor (PE) selects two independent reviewers who are experts in the manuscript’s field. Both reviewers remain anonymous to the authors, and the authors remain anonymous to the reviewers.
  • Peer Review Process: Reviewers evaluate the manuscript based on several criteria:
    • Relevance to the journal's scope
    • Originality and significance of the research
    • Clarity of presentation and structure
    • Methodological rigor and data analysis
    • Contribution to the field of mental health studies
  • Review Timeline: Reviewers are given 3-4 weeks to complete their If additional time is needed, the PE may extend the deadline based on reviewer availability.
  • External Peer Review for Editorial Articles

Original research articles authored by the editorial board will undergo external peer

review to maintain the journal’s commitment to transparency and high-quality research.

  • Editorials and Obituaries

Editorials and obituaries authored by the editor-in-chief will not be subjected to external peer review. These pieces reflect the editor's perspective and do not undergo the same review process as original research articles.

  • Confidentiality in Peer Review

Peer reviewers are expected to uphold the highest standards of confidentiality throughout the review process. Manuscripts received for review should not be shared with colleagues or discussed publicly. Once the review is complete, the manuscript should be securely destroyed to protect the integrity of the process.

  • Use of AI Technology in Peer Review

If peer reviewers wish to use AI technology to assist in the review process, they must first seek prior approval from the journal. This ensures that the use of AI aligns with GJMHS’s editorial standards and guidelines.
